How it works

Contact us for a quick phone call.  Let us know as much information as possible about the vehicle you are searching for.  Perhaps you have already found a car or motorhome yourself? No problem, we can advise on final end cost and then handle the process from there.

We search our multiple sources for your ideal car at the best price.  This is often the most time-consuming part of the process and yet is free of charge to you.

We send you details for the best cars/motorhomes we have found along with the forecasted end price to get the car to your door using our Personal Import Method (you pay the suppliers directly and we act as your Agent to manage the whole process and work for a fixed fee).

Forecasted price includes:

The vehicle, VAT admin fee (when the vehicle is VAT Qualifying), customs fee UK, shipping via container, marine insurance, GST, MAF inspection, customs fee NZ, standard compliance, WOF, on road costs, updating satellite navigation to NZ maps, changing speedo to km/h where required, our service fee and delivery to your door (within reasonable distance of Auckland), other locations possible but may incur an additional cost.

If you need finance, no problem.  We will give you a Fixed Price instead, in this case we ask for a 20% deposit and remainder when the car lands in NZ.  As part of our transparency, we will tell you this is a more expensive way of purchasing as we need to add a margin to cover our cost of finance whilst the vehicle is on the ship.

You select your vehicle and we then do the normal checks to ensure it is as advertised for example HPI check, request full specification, further photos or video and details of service history. We can also arrange a pre-purchase inspection if required (additional cost).  We deliberately source manufacturer approved used cars/motorhomes from main dealers wherever possible. 

After you have chosen your vehicle we will arrange for you to be invoiced.  If it is VAT qualifying you will be invoiced less VAT (UK version of GST) + a nominal VAT admin fee. We advise that our clients use a service such as XE Money transfers for their international currency payments to ensure a great exchange rate and no fees when compared to a typical bank.

We realise you may be hesitant to send large amounts of money abroad.  Our method is tried and tested – thus nearly $20 million of our clients’ money has been transferred to our UK buyer successfully and using a company such as XE for the transaction offers additional security and confidence.

After payment has been received, we arrange for your car to be delivered to our secure loading facility. It is then loaded into the next available container and shipped to NZ (Auckland or Christchurch) by McCulloughs.  If you have purchased a Motorhome, more than likely it will be shipped RORO (roll on roll off) instead as it will not fit into a container.  We discuss all these details with you and provide accurate costings.

We have built an excellent relationship with McCulloughs: with over 20 years experience they are the leading international vehicle shipper in NZ so they were the perfect choice for us as our preferred shipping company.

We then provide an ETA and information to track your vehicle online in real-time, so you can count down the days to it’s arrival!  Typically it takes 8-10 weeks from purchase to arrival.

When your car arrives, it is unloaded then inspected by MAF and customs.  You will then receive an invoice for shipping, marine insurance and GST.  Your car is delivered to our preferred compliance centre in Auckland or Christchurch.

In Auckland compliance checks are carried out by an AA certified inspector.

As most of the cars we import are near-new repairs are rarely needed.  However, if they are, the compliance centre will carry these out at a very competitive price.  Your car can also be serviced whilst it is at compliance.  Please ask for a quote.

When through compliance your car receives it’s WOF and is then ready for registration.

As for cars, we also manage the complicated compliance process for you including the WOF or COF as appropriate and the necessary gas and electrical safety checks.

We register the car or motorhome for you, then arrange for satellite navigation systems to be updated to NZ maps and speedos changed to km/h where applicable.   Almost all systems can be updated – but if it is not possible we would of course advise prior to purchase. 

At this stage we can also arrange for Euro style number plates, tow bars, paint protection coatings and upgrades such as window tinting, new alloys, new veneers and reversing cameras.  Just ask.  We have a long list of recommended suppliers and we will organize all this for you prior to delivery and at cost price i.e. trade rates.  

We have your vehicle valeted and deliver it to your door, or your chosen destination.  We deliver nationwide.  Delivery within a reasonable distance of Auckland is included in our service fee.  A small additional cost will apply for other locations but all of this will be discussed at the beginning.
