OUR STORY

European Car Imports is a family business based in Auckland and whose mission is to make sourcing and importing your next prestige car, motorhome or electric vehicle easy.  And by doing so save you time, money and hassle on your vehicle purchase.  Lincoln and Sally Roberts are Directors of the business.  Lincoln is a New Zealander who left NZ on a yacht in 2000 and returned in 2013 with his English wife, Sally, and their two young children, Archie and Reggie and started European Car Imports.   

As with many small business owners their motivation was to balance a young family with work commitments and to work hard for themselves and their own advantage financially and emotionally.  Adding to that, working from a home office obviously has other benefits when working with two time zones, and lower overheads mean lower fees for you.

HOW IT WORKS

After you make contact with us, we will discuss your requirements and then search for a vehicle that meets them all.  We search using online sources, our multiple contacts in UK and Europe and UK auction houses.  We will compare with NZ pricing and then advise where is the best place to source your car.  All of this is at no cost to you.  

The greatest cost savings are found on new and near-new vehicles from the UK that are VAT Qualifying and hence this is where we specialise.

Typically vehicleS that are VAT Qualifying are new, ex-lease, company cars or ex-demonstrators.  If a vehicle is VAT qualifying the UK version of GST (VAT), can be claimed back when a car is exported out of the European Union.  As VAT is currently at 20% this obviously makes sense.  Our purchasing technique means you are invoiced less VAT + a small admin fee.  In turn this means a lower GST bill when your car lands in NZ as GST is worked out as 15% of (invoice price of car + shipping).Once we have found you the ideal vehicle, we work as your agent to manage the whole purchase and importation process then deliver the vehicle to your door NZ [...]
